The Seed that Refused to Stay Small

“You don't have to be the biggest seed.”

A beautiful garden behind a small home where the wife planted seeds everyday. The garden was beautiful, filled with flowers, trees and bushes! One day a small little seed was planted in the soiled dirt, unfortunately the small seed wasn't directly in the sunlight but it received plenty of water like the rest of the seeds in the soil. The small seed was so excited to grow, it told the other seeds “I want to grow and be a big beautiful tree so birds and squirrels can live on me!”. The other seeds only laughed at it, saying “you barely get any sun! water itself isn't going to get you big, you'll barely grow an inch!” but the small seed wasn't upset by their words, instead it was even more determined to grow.

It was true, it barely got any sunlight at all. But the water kept it refreshed and nature kept it alive. The love from the wife that gardened the seeds and her beautiful songs soothed it and helped it grow. Everyday, the other seeds laughed and told the smaller seed repeatedly that no matter what it wouldn't get anywhere, it would stay small. At first it seemed that way, all the other seeds were growing beautifully, they all had long stems and leaves. Others even had small flowers poking out while the small seed only had a small stem just poking out of the soil. The small seed stayed determined and patient, while all the other seeds tried to outgrow each other. Trying to be the fastest to grow and the nicest looking.

This went on for months, but the small seed remained patient. Taking its time to grow instead of rushing and trying to race the other seeds. The smaller seed grew slowly, its stem growing longer and bigger by the day. Eventually the smaller seed outgrew all the other seeds! It became a giant beautiful tree where many birds and squirrels lived. The other seeds were shocked, they had all grown as well but not as big as the smaller seed did. You don't have to be the biggest seed to be the most beautiful and bigger one. Eventually you'll get there, it's not a race. It's a process.
