Theme Explanation
Our theme choice of “All Around the World” focuses on the appreciation of diversity, culture and connection. As our workbook includes stories, educational activities, art, games and interactive pages, it encourages children to explore various countries, cultures, traditions, languages, foods and communities from all around the world in a fun and interactive way.
The focus of this theme relates to STARS’ mission of supporting refugee and immigrant children
by creating a space for inclusion, belonging and connection. This project emphasizes the
connections people share through creativity, family, kindness and community. The aim is to
encourage children to learn about themselves and others, as well as building empathy and a
sense of curiosity/excitement when doing so. Children using this workbook could come from
various cultural backgrounds or have experiences related to moving to new environments. This
theme as the focus is significant as it reminds children that every culture deserves to be celebrated.

How will this work be published?

The STARS Global Workbook Initiative is a collaborative project that brings together volunteers from around the world to create educational resources for refugee and immigrant children. Throughout the project, contributors will submit original worksheets, coloring pages, stories, activities, and cultural learning materials that align with the workbook theme.
Once submissions close, the STARS leadership team will review all entries for quality, educational value, age appropriateness, and consistency. Selected content will then be professionally organized, edited, and designed into a complete workbook.
The finished workbook will be published digitally through the STARS website and shared with our community partners. Printed copies may also be produced and distributed directly to refugee-serving organizations, schools, community centers, and newcomer families whenever funding and resources allow.
Contributors whose work is selected will be recognized within the workbook unless they choose to remain anonymous. Through this initiative, students have the opportunity to see their creativity transformed into a real educational resource that can support children across diverse communities.
This project represents more than a workbook—it is a global effort to make learning accessible, engaging, and inclusive for children who may face educational barriers due to displacement, language differences, or limited access to resources.
