Wherever Wind Takes Me
by Allyssa Freeman-Smith
The wind has a funny way of making itself seen
It blows in your hair like it does in the trees
The way of the wind has its own way through seasons
Sometimes a little more when it comes to freedom
The people and the trees have always lived together
They’ve seen each other's flaws in all kinds of weather
Conditions from cold to warm
Stay with the wind no matter who mourns
A willow tree feels herself with the slight touch of wind
She holds her spirit kindred by a gentle swim
A lake beneath her swaying hair
Never too much water running to bear
When will we all be free?
Like the resting trees in the wind that are rarely seen
We might not remember the people we meet
But the wind will always remind you how some made you feel
As the wind is what will set you free
